Approx 18 km north of wollongong Coledale is a small coastal village know for its picturesque beaches and dramatic escapement views. Coledale village is a small strip of shops well frequented with various cafes, restaurants and homewares. Coledale school is known for probably having the best views on the coast.

As the land is squeezed between the ocean and the mountains it's a very small strip of land that allows Coledales residents to be only meters away from both. Along with its neigbours austinmer and Wombarra it is considered to be some of the Illawarras more expensive real estate. The rail and Lawrence Hargrove Drive split the area between east and west.

The tiny suburb is dotted with expensive beachouses and still some original cottages, many with views. There is also a hospital, nursing home, RSL, Kerryn McCann park which is used for various sports like soccer, cricket and netball. Kerryn was a well loved Coledale local known for her sporting achievements. A holiday park for camping near the surf club allows campers to stay on the beach. Nippers is a popular activity with many locals utilising their famous beaches.
